Oyi/Ayamelum 2019: Onyenwife Bows Out

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has an age long tradition of conducting peaceful, free, fair, credible and transparent elections. In Anambra State the situation is not different, it would be recalled that prior to 2017 gubernatorial primary election, APGA had adopted the zoning arrangement that brought Chief Willie Obiano to power, and ensured that no party member from Anambra North Senatorial District was permissible to run against the zoning arrangement.

Politicians from Anambra North Senatorial District who wished to vie for the governorship seat relocated to other political parties. Today, those who cross carpeted to other parties in pursuit of political porridge have been returning to APGA in droves. It has become crystal clear in Anambra that the surest way to success for politicians seeking elective positions is to embrace and work with APGA. For the uninformed, do ask Sen. Stella Odua why she divorced PDP for APGA.

Just so that you may know, Anambra North as presently constituted is the home and stronghold of APGA, the central processing unit, the membrane, the epi-center, the spinal cord, the economic nerve engine, the most virile and potent APGA zone in Nigeria. Ask your political representatives.

The high level of political socialization and peaceful political atmosphere we do enjoy in Anambra North was made possible by well-informed party stakeholders who structured the power sharing format duly established irrespective of political leaning. These men of character and strong will whose political audacity, pedigree, antecedents, sterling performance, astute leadership, and huge wealth of knowledge had been vested on promoting the formal power rotation amongst constituencies, thereby nipping in the bud undemocratic dispositions of power drunk and egocentric politicians. Even the political bigwigs have come to terms with the maxim that ‘Political Sanity’ simply negates obedience to the set rules of engagement.

In recent times, the Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency had witnessed myriads of political malaise in relation to the historic zoning arrangement that brought the incumbent House of Reps member, Hon Gabriel Onyenwife. Sadly, the trajectory had been that the embattled lawmaker was lured into recontesting for the seat by some interest groups who would rather break the historical zoning agreement to suit their selfish motive. The ruffled lawmaker was ill advised, ill mentored, and ill equipped by these political scavengers. They had sought ways on how to disrespect the zoning arrangement with ndi Oyi LGA.

After what seemed like serial political gang rape on the embattled lawmaker, Hon. Onyenwife had
elected to listen to the words of wisdom, and having failed to convince party leadership on his planned destruction of Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency zoning arrangement had tactically withdrawn from the House of Rep Race.

APGA is one big family, party faithfuls are at peace with zoning or power sharing format designed to equitably distribute common wealth devoid of nepostic tendencies.

Congratulations to Hon. Gabriel Onyenwife for exhibiting such a profound sense of civility. And for paying heed to the voice of reasoning. Eventually, he had owned up to supporting Oyi for the House of Reps sloth. He was quoted to have said that his ambition was not worth the losses he had incurred in the hands of political jobbers.
