The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, concluded the final phase of the 2025 Omituntun Free Health Mission for different categories of citizens in the state.

While speaking at the last stage of the programme, organized for both Public/Civil Servants, held at the Secretariat, Ibadan, Commissioner for Health, Dr.Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi said the free health mission has given thousands of residents, including government staff, pensioners, people with disabilities, and underserved communities, access to free and comprehensive healthcare services.

She revealed that the free health mission traversed all 33 local government areas of the state, with an additional three days specially dedicated to people with disabilities, retirees and civil servants.

According to her, the Ministry of Health proudly reports that the free health mission has delivered life-changing care at no cost to beneficiaries, thanks to the visionary leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde under the Omituntun 2.0 agenda.

According to her, the following days were allotted for the following categories of the citizens:-
• Saturday – Persons with disabilities at Oluyole Cheshire Home
• Monday – Retirees at the Pensioners’ House
• Tuesday (Today) – Civil servants and other government workers

Dr. Ajetunmobi noted that the outreach has not only improved the health status of residents across the state but has also delivered significant economic relief to those who would otherwise struggle to afford basic and specialized care.

“We know many of our civil servants are busy at work and may not have been able to visit the mobile health teams in their local governments. That’s why we brought the outreach directly to them,” she explained.

The Commissioner highlighted a wide range of services delivered under the First Quarter 2025 Omituntun Free Health Mission, including
• Medical consultations
• Minor surgical procedures (e.g., hernia repairs)
• Oral examinations and dental care
• Eye examinations and surgeries
• Physiotherapy services
• Breast and cervical cancer screening
• Chest X-rays for individuals with chronic cough
• Comprehensive laboratory investigations
• Free drug dispensation

All of these were offered completely free of charge.

She added that cases requiring follow-up treatment were referred appropriately or linked to the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) for continued care.

Many civil servants who benefited from the outreach expressed deep appreciation to the government for prioritizing their health and wellbeing. They remarked that such an inclusive and thoughtful programme is unprecedented, and prayed for a worthy successor to Governor Seyi Makinde, someone who would continue to uphold the welfare of workers and the good people of Oyo State.
