The Oyo State government has resuscitated the abandoned water reservoir located at Osupa in Ogbomoso area of the state.
The Chairman, Oyo State Water Cooperation, Hon. Elias Adeojo, stated this on Thursday in Ogbomoso during a meeting with the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye.
Mr. Adeojo said the project would supply enough water to the residents of the Ogbomoso metropolis.
He revealed that work was on top gear to ensure that the water scheme operated at full capacity, saying the project would meet the water needs of thousands of residents.
According to him, the water scheme is supplying about 400,000 gallons of water daily, which signified that Gov. Seyi Makinde is committed to fulfilling his campaign promises.
He urged the benefitting communities to cultivate a good culture of protecting water installations in their communities for efficient and regular water supply.
Felicitating with the Soun of Ogbomoso on his first year anniversary on the throne, Elias Adeojo noted that the monarch is an embodiment of passion, whose contribution to the project was immense.
He said, “The successful resuscitation of the water reservoir at Osupa in Ogbomoso can be credited to the support received from the revered Monarch.”
“The reservoir since built in 1996 has not been put to good use until recently when the Oyo State Government rose to the challenge with huge support from Oba Ghandi Olaoye and some notable Ogbomoso indigene”, the Chairman said.
He therefore, stressed the need for all stakeholders to be on the same page, as regards the provision of portable water to the residents of Oyo state, was paramount to their lives.
