OYRTMA Launches 2024 ‘Ember’-Month Campaign In Ibadan

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has flagged-off its year 2024 ‘ember’ months campaign in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

In addition it is partnering with the Park Management System (PMS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA and other relevant agencies to ensure accident-free roads during the ember months.

OYRTMA Chairman, Major Adekoya Adesagba (Rtd), performed the flag off at the New garage, Oluyole Local government area of Oyo state, on Thursday.

Represented by Principal Road Traffic Superintendent (PRTS), and Public Relations Officer of the Agency, Mr. Abiodun Obisesan, the Chairman emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts during the Ember months.

“We must work together to ensure our roads are safe during this period,” Major Adesagba said.

“Our agency will provide full support to PMS to make this program a success. We urge all road users to cooperate with us and report any reckless driving to the authorities.”

OYRTMA’s partnership with PMS aims to curb reckless driving, enforce traffic laws, and promote public enlightenment campaigns.

Adesagba also appealed to local government chairmen and political office holders to support its efforts in ensuring road safety.

He said the present administration remains committed to supporting initiatives that ensure the safety of lives and properties in Oyo State.

Speaking earlier, PMS Vice Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen, appreciated OYRTMA’s support and commitment to road safety.

“Last year’s program was successful due to the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders,” Alhaji Tajudeen said.

In her words, Mrs. Mutiat Okuwobi, Principal Senior Officer, NDLEA, commended OYRTMA and PMS for initiating the program.

“This partnership will help curb drug-related incidents on our roads”, Mrs. Okuwobi said.

Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police, represented by the D.P.O Orita challenge, CSP Marvis Jaiyeola, assured the gathering of the police’s commitment to providing security support during the program.

In another development, OYRTMA has begun a training session for its zonal booking ticket officers on electronic ticketing machines.

This move aims to eliminate manual ticketing and enhance transparency.

The training held at OYRTMA headquarters on Tuesday, was well received by booking ticket officers.
