A native doctor, Akin Babalola on Monday narrated before a Lagos court how a 70-year old woman, Mrs. Dino Grace paid her to kill one of the wives of Juju music maestro, King Sunny Ade.
Babalola was arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court for allegedly defrauding the woman, Mrs. Grace to the sum of N500,000 under false pretence.
According to the herbalist, an embittered Madam Grace had alleged that one of Juju music legend’s wives (name withheld) snatched her husband in Lagos and since then she has remained separated from her husband despite the fact that she had children for him.
He said when the woman came to his office at Igando area of Lagos where he practice as a native doctor, she complained that she had some health challenges because of the trauma she suffered after her husband left her for the other woman.
Osun State born-Babalola said the embittered woman told him that she wanted her husband back and asked him to help prepare a charm that will killed the other woman so that her husband can come back to her. He said he agreed to assist but told her that it would involved performing some sacrifice which involved money.
Babalola added that she agreed to pay but only collected N65,000 against the N500,000 she told the police he used to buy some materials to perform the sacrifice.
He claimed that when the woman paid him some money, both of them went to a market where they bought materials including two goats -male and female- which they used for the sacrifice and he asked her to be patient for the sacrifice to work.
But said when the sacrifice did not work after some time, she came back and started demanding refund of her money.
“She complained that the sacrifice did not work because her husband did not return to her as he promised,” Babalola stated.
On her part, Grace said he met Babalola inside a car on her way to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH for treatment and he took her to an undisclosed location in Igando area where he duped her on false pretence of curing her of her ailment.
Grace told the court that Babalola forced her to a bank with gun where she withdrew the money and gave him. After that she reported him to the police at Igando.
Following her report to the police, Babalola was arrested and charged to court with conspiracy, fraud and stealing where he was released on bail before the trial.
He was granted bail and the matter was slated for trial where he narrated what transpired between him and the victim.
The matter was further adjourned to 9 January 2017 for continuation of trial.
