As the countdown to the 2023 General Elections gathers momentum, an influential group of persons with special needs has dared politicians to ignore them and be doomed.

The Co-ordinator of the Proudly Albino Network, PAN, Princess Esther Abbey during an interview with P.M. EXPRESS in Lagos at the weekend fumed:

“We have been taken for granted by politicians for so long but next year the story will be different.”

She warned “Any politician or political party that takes Albinos for granted in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections should be prepared to lose at the polls”.

Princess Abbey said Albinos had suffered all forms of discrimination and marginalisation in the country.

She vowed that after the 2023 General Elections, the pathetic story of Albinos in the country will change.

The graduate of Hospitality and Hotel Management who has been mobilising Albinos to register for the forthcoming elections said they were now conscious of the influence they wielded during elections because of their  population.

“There is more awareness among us now than ever before. Now, we know that we are over two million Albinos in the country. With that number, we can determine who becomes the next President”.

“All we just need to do is to come together as a group and support one candidate who does our bidding”.

“With the level of awareness among us now, we are ready to take our destiny in our hands”.

The PAN coordinator appealed to  politicians and political parties to reserve at least twenty percent of elective positions for Albinos in the forthcoming General elections.

“Any political party that wants our massive support and votes must not just have a manifesto that would address our needs as Albinos but also set aside at least twenty percent of elective positions for us”.

Princess Abbey said she was convinced that the Albinos’ narrative would change in 2023 because “We will play a role in who will be the next President of Nigeria”.
