The power supremacy fight between two clerics, Pastor David Olasupo and Prophetess (Mrs) Mayowa Abimbola, worsened in Lagos State after Olasupo posted the picture of Abimbola on social media tagging her as a “ritualist”.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Prophetess Abimbola fought back by handing Olusupo over to Police operatives at the Lagos State Command for prosecution over his alleged conduct.

The 48-year old cleric, David Olasupo, was then arrested and charged before a Badagry Chief Magistrate’s Court for the alleged offence.

The incident happened on 29th April, 2024, at about 10:30pm, at Ilogbo-Eremi, Badagry area of Lagos State, where they reside.

The Pastor was charged for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence by conducting himself in a manner likely to breach the peace by posting the pictures of another cleric, Prophetess Abimbola, on Facebook and tagging her a ritualist.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant and Abimbola, the complainant, had a good relationship until recently.

The prosecutor stated that the defendant used to invite the complainant for fellowship and evangelism in his church until they had a misunderstanding and he allegedly blackmailed her.

The prosecutor stated that the alleged offence contravened Section 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mr. Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 25th June, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
