A cleric, Pastor Uchenna Chukwuma, has done the unthinkable after he engaged a native doctor, identified as Oliver Chukwudi Ugwu, in a spiritual battle and was suppressed by the native doctor in Anambra State.
In frustration, Pastor Chukwuma allegedly used a cutlass and attacked the 60-year-old native doctor, Ugwu, for blocking his progress and he died in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Umusiome, Nkpor in Anambra State on Thursday, 3rd September, 2020.
The embattled Pastor Chukwuma alleged that the victim was attacking him spiritually and hindering his financial progress. He then concluded that he was directed by God to kill the native doctor. As a result, he attacked the man with a cutlass and inflicted injuries on him. The native doctor was said to have bled profusely, which led to his death.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammad, who said that the officers of the Ogidi Divisional Police Station were alerted immediately after the incident occurred.
He said, Police detectives arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect, who during interrogation, said he was sent by God to kill the deceased native doctor for disturbing him spiritually and had not allowed him to progress financially”.
Police spokesman, Mohammed, explained that the victim was rushed to the Iyi Enu Hospital, Ogidi, for medical attention where he was certified dead by the medical doctor on arrival. His corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Mohammed said that the cutlass used in perpetrating the crime was recovered as an exhibit and that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for discreet investigation in order to unravel the actual circumstances surrounding the incident.
