CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

It was a sad end for a 65-year old pastor Abraham Izobe who reportedly went to Federal High Court to testify as false witness in a matter and ended up in prison custody in Lagos.
Izobe was charged with impersonation, forgery and attempt to pervert the cause of justice with false information to mislead court.
According to Police, Izobe suffered his fate after he wrote to the court as witness and claimed to be the landlord of the house number 3, Ojo Ogundana Crescent in Akowonjo, Lagos and that he was the Chairman of the Landlord Association of his area in the same neighbourhood.
The suspect reportedly wrote to the court with the association’s letter head and signed as Chairman, an act discovered to be false and to mislead the court.
However, he was unable to achieve his mission which has landed him in trouble.
P.M.EXPRESS learnt that Izobe presented the written address to the court, the attention of the court and police were then brought to Izobe’s action which was intended to mislead the court.
The police at Shasha division was detailed to investigate and it was discovered that Izobe was neither the landlord nor tenant of the house he used to testify in court.
The police also discovered that he was not even a member of the landlord association in the area which he claimed to be their chairman.
He was subsequently arrested and charged before the court for the alleged offence.
At the Ejigbo Magistrate’s court where he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 9 March 2017.
