Pastor Kolawole Samson will have to die by hanging for allegedly killing a middle-aged man, Ayo Olaniyi, in a village near Okeigbo town over frogs following the judgement of the Ondo High Court which found him guilty of murder.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the late Olaniyi was killed after he went to hunt for frogs with his friends inside a pond owned by Pastor Samson. The Pastor used a machete to inflict injury on him which later led to his death.
Pastor Samson was arrested and charged before the Ondo High Court over the murder of Olaniyi and was found guilty as charged.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Ademola Bola, found Pastor Kolawole Samson guilty of inflicting injury on the deceased’s head with a cutlass at Gberinlegi Village, via Okeigbo, which later led to his death at the hospital.
Earlier, the State Attorney General and the Commissioner for Justice, represented by two government lawyers, Mr. Olusegun Akeredolu and Mrs. Omotola Ologun, told the Court that the Pastor, on 3rd March 2016, had inflicted severe cuts on the head of late Ayo Olaniyi when he went to hunt frogs with his three other friends in a fish pond owned by the convict in the village near Okeigbo.
The lawyers argued that the offence is contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Chapter 37, Laws of the State of Ondo (2006).
The accused claimed that he was not guilty of the offence and the matter went into trial and he was found culpable for murder.
In the judgment delivered, Justice Bola ruled that all evidences brought before the Court in the last four years showed that Pastor Kolawole Samson was guilty of killing Olaniyi.
The Judge ruled that Pastor Kolawole Samson should die by hanging and thereafter he was taken to prison from where he would be hanged.
