PEARL Awards Nigeria has unveiled nominees for its 2026 Awards, ahead of the grand ceremony scheduled for Sunday, November 29, 2026, at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Announcing the nominees at a press conference in Lagos, the President/Chief Executive Officer of PEARL Awards Nigeria, Mr. Tayo Orekoya, FCA, said the Awards would continue to recognize outstanding corporate performance, leadership, and contributions to the development of Nigeria’s capital market.
The 2026 ceremony, themed “Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring the Future,” will adopt a hybrid format, combining physical attendance with live streaming to enable wider participation by stakeholders within Nigeria and across the diaspora.
The nominees cut across the Sectoral Leadership, Market Excellence, and Special Recognition categories. They include companies competing for recognition in sectoral performance, financial and market indices, stockbroking, issuing-house services, and corporate governance.
Mr. Orekoya reaffirmed that the credibility of the PEARL Awards rests on a rigorous, research-driven assessment process based on measurable corporate performance. The methodology incorporates ten financial and market indices, including turnover growth, return on equity, earnings yield, share price appreciation, dividend yield and profit margin.
He explained that the assessment draws on published annual reports of quoted companies filed with Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), alongside relevant NGX Daily Official Lists. The results undergo review by the Awards’ Technical Committee before consideration and final approval by the Board of Governors.
He stressed that winners are determined by performance outcomes rather than corporate influence, sponsorship considerations or popularity.
Established in 1995, PEARL Awards Nigeria has spent more than three decades promoting corporate excellence, healthy competition, transparency and sustainable value creation among companies quoted on the Nigerian stock market.
Beyond its annual awards ceremony, the organization has expanded its activities to include the PEARL Awards Annual Corporate Summit and the publication of Winning Strategies of Nigeria’s Corporate Giants. The 2027 edition of the Nigerian Stock Market Annual is also scheduled for unveiling at the forthcoming Awards Nite.
The identities of the winners in the competitive categories, including the recipient of the prestigious PEARL of the Nigerian Stock Market award, will be announced at the ceremony. Recipients of the Honorary Awards will likewise be unveiled during the event.
The 2026 PEARL Awards Nite is expected to attract corporate executives, capital-market regulators and operators, investors, policymakers, government representatives and members of the financial media.
Mr. Orekoya called on the media and other stakeholders to sustain their support for the Awards and the broader objective of strengthening corporate accountability, competitiveness, and the Nigerian capital market.
