Peter Obi’s Unenviable Record In Health Sector As In Education Sector

A few days ago, Prof Chinyere Stella Okunna was at Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital for the donation of some COVID19 palliative items. While addressing journalists after the donation, Okunna who was the Commissioner For Economic Planning and the Chief of Staff to Peter Obi as well as the Anambra state Chairperson of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations(NIPR), said that Peter got the accreditation of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku in Awka when he was the governor of Anambra State.

Though I was not aghast because anybody that is in a hurry to cover up lies will definitely haul out more lies in order to cover up the main lie. Mr Peter Obi left office on March 17, 2014 and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku was accredited in 2017 as a medical institution where doctors could be trained. It was made possible because Sir Willie M. Obiano provided all the necessary financial logistics for the institution and things started moving towards the right direction. It is on record that the pioneer doctors spent 9 years instead of 6 years in medical school because of what they described as financial micro management system of Mr Peter Obi which denied them funds to purchase the right equipment, reagents and hire the right number and calibre of staff. How could we describe a man who ignored the medical doctors and medical officers in the Ministry who embarked on an industrial action for a whole 9 months as somebody who did well in the health sector? Under Peter Obi Nigerian doctors were on a strike for almost a year. No other governor, whether past or present, has this awful record.

Mr Peter Obi who refused to even give COVID-19 palliative items to COOUTH Amaku which he claims he built went to NAUTH, Nnewi. Yet Okunna had the effrontery to talk about COOUTH which he abandoned when they needed him most. He neither contributed to the COVID 19 funds of the Federal Government nor that of Anambra state. To make matters worse, on April 11, 2020, his media aide gave a press statement that was peddled his pseudo social media account *ODUMODU GBULAGU* asking Ndi Anambra not to contribute to Anambra COVID 19 finance pool. This was just 2 hours after the state recorded its index case!  Is this not wickedness? He abandoned his brothers and sisters, and even his party members!

Anambra Health sector is blossoming positively today. Under this administration, Ebola Lassa fever and Yellow fever outbreaks were well-managed and contained. Today, this COVID 19 pandemic is solemnly being handled and controlled. COOUTH is now producing not just house officers but also medical consultants, unlike what was obtainable during the Peter Obi era.

Therefore, lies die faster while liars run from pillar to post trying to sustain lies. Peter Obi finds it difficult to reconcile himself to the reality that ndi Anambra do not want a godfather, even after they had demonstrated it in no mistaken terms in November 17, 2017, when he lost his Aniocha Local Government Area to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and his own candidate, Oseloka Obaze, was humiliated in his hometown as well as in his Ogbaru LGA. Sorry, sir, no to godfatherism.
