LUCKY LAWAL
It was a huge success for the Police as the Lagos State Command succeeded in trailing and arresting wanted serial blackmailers, who specialised in luring innocent victim into sex video in order to blackmail and dispossess them of their money and valuables.
The blackmailers were paraded by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu, at the Lagos State Police Officers Mess in G.R.A Ikeja.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, the three suspects specialised in blackmailing of victims. They were arrested on 17th September, 2019, at about 1530hours.
The blackmailers arrested were, Aspita Mercy, Jonathan Ukonues Estreem and the only female, Emmanualla Ozeegi. They were said to prey on their victims, especially married men, by taking video recordings of them with mischievous ladies and forcefully dispossess them of their valuables.
The PPRO said their modus operandi is to lure their victims, especially married men, through unsolicited dating by Emmanuella Ozeegi and once she succeeds, she invites the victim to a hotel or the residence of the kingpin, Aspita Mercy. The lady, Emmanuella, will then make a phone call to her master and they will immediately burst into the room, attack their victims. They will then order the lady and victim to be naked for video recording. The victim will be searched, dispossessed of his valuables and be forced to write an undertaking for payment of ransom or be threatened with the video clips going viral.
In the recent attempt, which led to their arrest, the blackmailers lured one Musa, a bureau de change agent, to a hotel based on a request made by Emmanuella Ozeegi that she had some Euros at home, which her brother brought from Europe and she wanted the Naira equivalent of two million.
The bureau de change agent however, got the Police involved unknown to the suspects. In the process of luring him to surrender his cash, they were arrested by the Police operatives.
The suspects confessed to have done two successful operations and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zubairu Muazu, said that the suspects will be charged to Court once investigation is completed.
