Police Arrest 32 Cult Group Members

The fight against crimes and cultism is really gaining ground following the arrest of 32 suspected members of various cult groups and recovery of arms in various areas across Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the arrest was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who said that the Police were winning the war against cultism in the State.
He said that there was harvest of operations in various areas which led to the arrest of the suspects by Police operatives. He hinted that on 3rd August, 2019, at about 1100hrs, men from the Anti Cultism Squad while on patrol arrested one Sulieman Afeez, 32, at Mosafejo Amukoko Street, Ajegunle, with a locally made single barrel pistol with one live round of cartridge.

The suspect, Afeez, who confessed to be a member of Aiye Confraternity, revealed that his gang was responsible for series of violent crimes in Ajegunle. Investigation is ongoing and efforts are in place to apprehend other members of his gang.


DSP Elkana also revealed that on the same date at between 7.40pm and 10.15pm, operatives of Operation Crush from Eight Divisions in Area H Command Ogudu, acting on credible intelligence, raided a cultists hideout at Bariga. One Augustine Udih, 39, of Kajora Street Bariga and 22 members of his gang were arrested. They all confessed to be members of a deadly gang and cult group responsible for various killings and violent crimes in Bariga. Investigation is ongoing, suspects will be charged to Court.  A follow up operation was carried out by Bariga Police Station, on 31st July, 2019, at Oyenaya Street, Bariga, where one Kareem Sadiq, 20, and five other members of his gang were arrested and the suspects were later charged to Court.
DSP Elkana said that on 24th July, 2019, at about 8.30am, two cultists were arrested by men of Operation Crush at Itabale Igbolomu area of Owutu, Ikorodu, while engaging each other in a battle for supremacy. One locally made pistol was recovered from them. The suspects were later charged to Court.
