Five suspected pipeline vandals were reportedly arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for alleged vandalisation of pipelines at Magboro area of Ibafo, Ogun State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were all arrested on Sunday 16th June, 2019, at about 6pm in the evening.
DSP Oyeyemi said that the Police effected the arrest of the vandals while the DPO Ibafo Division, SP Abiodun Ayinde, was on routine patrol with his men around the areas of his jurisdiction. The suspects were reportedly sighted beside Buildwell Company in a Volkswagen Passat car with registration number Lagos KSF 710 BM loaded with twelve 50-litre jerry cans of petroleum products suspected to have been siphoned from a vandalized pipelines in the area.
Immediately they sighted the policemen, the vandals jumped down from the vehicle and took to their heels. But the police team gave them a very hot chase and eventually apprehended them.
The arrested suspects were: Akinwale Tajudeen, Isiah Olalekan, Friday Terry, Mayokun Raheem and Godwin Igho.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the office of CP Monitoring Team for further investigation and prosecution
