A security guard, Bright Francis, 30 has been arrested by the police at Ilasan Division, Lekki, Lagos for allegedly dipping his finger into the vagina of a four-year-old girl and in the process inflicted injury on her private part.
The incident, according to the police, occurred at 29, Kusenla Road, Ikate, Elegushi, Lekki, Lagos where the guard works and the parents of the victim reside.
Police alleged that the suspect was arrested following a complaint by the mother of the victim that the incident occurred when she entrusted her daughter in the hands of a neighbour and went to buy something.
The complainant said that when she returned, her daughter complained to her that she was feeling pains in her private part her and that when she asked her what happened to her, she said Francis put something in her bum bum.
She stated that when she examined her daughter’s private part, she found blood stain and traces of injury and quickly rushed her to the hospital where doctors on duty confirmed that her daughter had been defiled.
During investigation, according to the police, Francis allegedly confessed to the crime that he only dipped his finger into the victim’s vagina once because he was sexually aroused when he saw the little girl urinating near where he was working as a security guard.
When asked what he derived from dipping his finger into the victim’s vagina, he allegedly said that he did not gain anything but blamed the devil for pushing him to commit the act.
Francis was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court on a one-count charge of dipping his finger into the vagina of a four-year old girl.
Inspector Ingobo Emby said the offence contravened section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Ogunbowale admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunbowale directed the Prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward it to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution for advice on the matter.
She adjourned the case till 29 September, 2016 for mention and ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody till he is able to perfect the bail conditions.
