Police Arrest Man, 60, For Inserting Finger Into Girl, 8

The Police in Lagos have arrested a 60-year old man, Godwin Anukwa, for allegedly sexually molesting an 8-year old girl by inserting his finger into her private part in order to satisfy his sexual desire.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Airport Estate in Isheri area of Lagos where they reside.

It was gathered that the suspect, Godwin, reportedly lured the victim into his apartment, removed her pant and inserted his finger into her private part. The victim, who was said to be surprised over the act, asked to know what he was doing and Godwin replied her that he was checking something inside it. He was said to have continued until he had satisfied himself before he allowed her to go.

However, the victim told her mother what happened and the matter was reported to the police. The suspect, Godwin, was eventually arrested and moved to the Gender Section of the Police Command for investigation.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for sexual assault on the victim.

He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Peter Nwaogwugwu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the matter.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Y.O Aje-Afunwa, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
However, Godwin was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 22nd August, 2019.
