Police operatives from the Rivers State Command have arrested a man, identified as Mr. Damian Okoligwe Chinemere, over the alleged dastardly killing of his girlfriend.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Damian, was alleged to have murdered his female partner, Justina Otuene Nkang, a 300-level Biochemistry undergraduate student of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred along NTA Road, Mgbuoba in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The victim, Justina Otuene Nkang, was reported to have been seen the last time at a private hospital located in the D/Line axis of Port Harcourt, where she was undergoing her Industrial Training attachment, a mandatory aspect of her academic programme.

The suspect, Damian Okoligwe Chinemerem, was also said to be a 400-level Petrochemical student of the University of Port Harcourt.

Briefing newsmen at the State Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner of Police, CP Polycarp Nwonyi Emeka, said that the arrest of the suspect, Damian, followed information provided by a well meaning Rivers resident.

They got the information that a nasty odour was coming out from an apartment on Road 20 along the NTA Road. Detectives attached to the Ozuoba Division of the Police mobilised, rushed to the location and forced the door open.

CP Emeka explained that the officers saw a “Ghana-must-go” bag and opened it to find a lifeless body of the girl, Justina. The owner of the apartment had fled after committing the crime. He had kept her body in his apartment for about three days.

His attempt at disposing her corpse in refuse dump was botched because the vigilante group in the area accosted him, which led to his arrest after an intense chase and search.

CP Emeka said investigation are already ongoing but it had not been confirmed if the deceased was murdered by her lover for ritual purposes because her breasts, eyes and other sensitive parts of her body were mutilated.

The CP also advised parents to be more concerned about the kind of friends that their wards keep in order to avert such incidences.
