The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the weekend’s assassination of 2006 Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS), winner, Hector Jobarteh.
Jobarteh was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Sunday at his residence in New Oko-Oba area of Lagos State.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi on Monday said three persons are being interrogated over the killing of the father of one, who was reportedly trailed to his house after picking his younger brother from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
It was gathered that the gunmen reportedly knocked on his neighbour’s door downstairs and asked who the car parked outside belonged to.
When she told them the occupant (Jobarteh) stayed upstairs, they stormed his apartment and shot him.
Jobarteh, whose wife travelled to the United States of America to have their second child, was said to have returned to Nigeria in July.
“To us, this is a clear case of murder and all angles are being investigated. I want to use this opportunity to assure the family and indeed, Lagosians that the police will use every asset at its disposal to ensure that perpetrators of this heinous act are not only brought to book, but diligently prosecuted,” Imohimi said.
