In view of the forthcoming Eid-El-Kabir celebration, the Ogun State Police Command has assured residents of the State that the Command has put in place a robust security arrangement in order to ensure hitch free Sallah celebration.
To this end, all the Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers have been put on red alert and directed to embark on 24hours surveillance patrol of their areas in order to wade off the criminal elements within their jurisdiction.
In addition, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has also ordered a strategic deployment of men from special units such as FSARS, PMF, and Tactical Response and Intelligence Units, Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Sections to nip in the bud any violent crime that may want to rear its ugly head. 24hours patrols have also been ordered around various praying grounds as well as event/recreation centres across the State.
Similarly, men from the bomb disposal unit have been directed to sweep all the prayer grounds across the length and breadth of the State to forestall any ugly occurrence.
The Commissioner of Police while felicitating with Muslim faithfuls and the good people of Ogun State, enjoined them to reflect on the reasons for the Eid-El-Kabir celebration and be good ambassadors of Islam by ensuring peace at all times. He also appealed to members of the public to alert the Police whenever and wherever they noticed any strange or suspicious faces, gathering or movement in their domains in order to assist the security agencies to perform their duties adequately, as security is everybody’s business.
