A young man, Kelechi Iwejuo, is lying critically ill at an undisclosed hospital after some members of a group conspired, set him ablaze with petrol and then dumped him on roadside in the village in Imo State to die.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in Umuobachi village, Alatia Amala autonomous community, Ngor Okpala LGA, Imo State, where they accosted the victim.
The Police operatives from the Imo State Command have begun manhunt for the culprits behind the dastardly act as directed by the Commissioner of Police.
Those fingered in the act included Ogechi Ogidi (the principal actor) from Umuekpu, Ifeanyi Nwankwala from Umuekpu village, Uchenna Ewenike, Obioma Ukaonu and Onyinyechi Ewenike, all from Umuobachi village.
According to Police sources, the incident happened at Umuobachi village and the victim, Kelechi Iwejuo, was later brought to Nnebodudu village with the aim of dumping him there to die.
However, he was lucky as the indigenes who saw him in that condition took him to an undisclosed hospital, where he is undergoing treatment because of the injuries he sustained during the attack.
According to the indigenes, the victim, Kelechi Iwejuo, is from Nnebodudu village and an orphan who has been struggling to survive.
However, when he started making it, envy came from other communities in the area. Hence, he was targeted to be eliminated by the gang members who accosted and attacked him.
This was confirmed by the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Okoye Henry, who disclosed that the Police has began investigation into the matter to bring the culprits to book.
