High Chief Chika C. Nwokedi, founder of Igbo socio-cultural organization known as Ndi Igbo Buru Otu, with other members at the weekend received the Lagos State Police Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Ewah Bassey.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the courtesy visit by DCP Bassey was at their meeting venue on Saturday 4th September, 2021, at Rainbow Hall in Ijegun area of the state, where he lectured the group on tips on security matters.

During visit, Chief Nwokedi stated the group has gone beyond the welfare of the members, which they have achieved by ensuring that members acquired their own land and became landlords themselves, thus the building of an estate called Ndi Igbo Buru Otu located at Ijedodo in the outskirts of Lagos.

He extolled the virtues of DCP Bassey, who he described as a good man and used the visit to disclose what they have been doing for the Police over the years on community policing in the protection of lives and property in Nigeria.

Nwokedi explained that he spends his personal funds to support the Nigerian Police and his group Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria and as well has done so much in the area of providing logistics support to the Police to encourage efficiency and effectiveness in order to ensure safety, security, law and order are maintained to the delight of Nigerians.

He stated that his group has provided some security equipment to the Lagos Command, provided tyres to both Area Commands and Divisions including Ladipo Market Police Division, which the group refurbished singlehandedly to encourage officers to perform their duties in conducive environment.

He stated that they were doing it because they knew that government cannot provide everything for the Nigerian Police and so they do so as part of corporate social responsibility to the society.

High Chief Nwokedi noted that even though there are some bad Police officers, who are denting the image of the Police, he added that some of them are equally good and perform their duties professionally like Bassey and that was why the group decided to associate with him.

On the membership, he stated that it is not any person that they accept as members because the group subjects any intending members to rigorous interview and investigation to ascertain his conduct and they do not accept a dubious person as member.

In response, DCP Bassey thanked the group and promised to offer assistance where they need him and advised that they should be law abiding, shun anything that may cause breach of law and order in the society.

On the conduct of Police officers, Bassey stated the Lagos Police Command do not tolerate any misconduct of the officers and where such happened in any area, the Command should be informed for prompt action.

He reiterated his willingness to associate with the group because they are organized and members are responsible citizens, who abide by the law in the society.
