It was a success story as the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi on 1st of March, 2018, paraded 255 suspects arrested during a raid at Akala-Mushin and Idi-Oro areas of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the raid was a joint operation conducted by officers from various commands in the state that lasted for several hours throughout the night and it paid off.
The police boss said that the raid of criminal hideouts in those areas became pertinent because of the brazen nature criminals living amongst the people attacked residents and law enforcement officers with impunity.
P.M.EXPRESS reports following series of reports of the criminal activities, the CP ordered a raid of identified criminal enclaves in Akala-Mushin and Idi-Oro.
During the raid, these criminal elements resisted the police by hurling stones and different types of missiles at them, breaking windscreens few vehicles parked on the roadsides.
That did not deter the police from arresting 255 suspects comprising of 246 males and 9 females, seizing 39 big bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and recovering of two pump action rifles and live ammunitions in the process. Part of those arrested were those caught breaking car windshields.
The Commissioner of Police vowed that the Command will not rest until drug peddlers, cultists and armed criminals are cleared from the streets of Lagos.
The Command hereby advises parents, guardians and stakeholders to warn their children and wards to stay away from criminals enclaves and avoid mingling with criminals. The CP added that the raid will continue in all places identified by police intelligence unit as black spots.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Obi in a statement confirmed the arrest and said investigations into the case have been concluded and all those arrested have been charged to court.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the operation moved beyond Akala in Mushin area as the police spread to Idiaraba, Itire and other notorious axis within the area and success was achieved.
