Police operatives from the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team, Area M, Idimu Command have foiled a robbery operation and arrested the key suspect during an operation at Ijegun area of Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the key suspect, Stanley Shittu, was arrested at Tijani Alabi off Community Road, Ijegun, while he allegedly pointed a gun with violence and snatched an unregistered Toyota Yaris belonging to Oluwasegun Sodiya containing a mobile phone, laptop and other items.
However, while trying to escape alongside his accomplice, the Police team accosted and arrested him with the car while his accomplice managed to escape during the operation.
He was detained at the station for interrogation. And during investigation, the Police recovered four and five unregistered Airtel and MTN sim cards suspected to be used for their alleged criminal activities.
While the Police were still making efforts to arrest his accomplice, the key suspect, Stanley, has been charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and armed robbery under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
The suspect risks several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Court ordered that Stanley should be remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
