Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested a 25-year old deadly suspected armed robber and recovered arms at a notorious axis in Agege area of the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Toibu Hassan, was arrested on Saturday by the Elere Police Division around 6.00am under the Agege Pen-Cinema Bridge during their routine monitoring in the area.
On a routine search on the suspected, the Police recovered one locally-made pistol and one expended cartridge on him as exhibits and he was subsequently arrested and detained at the station for further investigation.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest and recovery of the arms by the Police as exhibits.
“The Lagos State Police Command on Saturday arrested a suspected deadly armed robber, Toibu Hassan, at the Agege area of the State. He was arrested by the Elere Police Division around 6.00am under the Agege Pen-Cinema Bridge. The suspected robber was caught with one locally-made pistol and one expended cartridge, investigation was ongoing.”
Meanwhile, SP Hundeyin stated that worried by complaints of harassment and petty robberies along the rail lines in Agege, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has embarked on a fact-finding visit to the area.
“He has since ordered a rejig of the security architecture in the area, charging DPOs within the vicinity to ensure optimal provision of security,” Hundeyin stated.
