The security strategy of the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, with the support of the Area M Commander, ACP Tokunbo Aboniwonda, in Alimosho Local Government Area is yielding results as armed robbers have no space to operate in Ikotun and Igando areas.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Police operatives from Ikotun Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Waheed Adebisi, at the weekend busted notorious armed robbers terrorizing Ikotun residents and its environs during an operation.
The latest arrest of the suspects may have made a clear statement of the perfect Police-Public relationship built by the DPO, CSP Waheed Adebisi, since he resumed duty in Ikotun Division.
According to the residents, the Police received a distress call on 6th December, 2025, from a resident at Liasu Road in  Egbe area of Ikotun, Lagos, that four armed robbers with two motorcycles invaded the area and shot sporadically inside a barber’s shop in a bid to rob victims of their phones.
However, one the victims, identified as Adeniyi Timileyin, who resides in the area, refused to hand over his iPhone 14 Promax and the robbers forcefully collected the phone, shot him on the leg and was said to have bled profusely.
This angered the youths in the Community, who then mobilized, gave the robbers a hot chase and it paid off.
Accordingly, two of the robbers were caught and battered before the prompt arrival of the Police operatives deployed by the DPO. They rescued the suspects from being lynched by the angry mob.
The Police recovered their operational Bajaj motorcycle with registration number, LSR 945 while two other suspects managed to escape with their locally made gun on their motorcycle.
The timely deployment of the Anti-Crime Police officers from Ikotun Division saved the suspects, who had already been beaten to stupor as the Police rescued and took them to the station.
According to the residents, the Police rushed the victim to Igando General hospital while the suspects were taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment under the closure monitoring of the Police.
One of the suspects, identified as Sunday Olarewaju, has revealed to the Police that they were members of a syndicate that specialized in dispossesing victims of their phones and valuables within Ikotun/Igando and its environs and kill victims in the process during their operations.
When our correspondent visited the Police at the Ikotun Division to speak with the DPO, CSP Waheed Adebisi, he was said to have gone out for routine monitoring in the area.
However, sources at the station confirmed the incident and told the reporter that the matter will be transferred to the State Command at Ikeja for further investigation.
When the Police Public Relations Officer,  SP Abimbola Adebisi, was contacted over the matter, the phone rang but she did not pick up as at the time of filing this report.
