It appears that criminal elements in Ikotun area of Alimosho have no hiding place as Police operatives at Ikotun Division led by the DPO, CSP Adebisi Waheed, continue with the onslaught to decimate them across the streets in the area.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that recently, the Police received a distress call from a resident of Asfat Avenue in Abaranje area of Ikotun that a group of boys suspected to be criminal elements were on rampage disturbing the peace of people living at Asalu and Okerube areas.
Hence, the DPO deployed the Anti-Crime patrol team to the scene. Two suspects, Okunnuga, 17 and Opeyemi Owolabi, 43 were arrested with axes and cutlasses in their possession.
The hoodlums had altercation among themselves during the Masquerade festival in Igando area. The hoodlums used the confusion that ensued to break into road side shops and made away with phone accessories and other valuables worth undisclosed amount of money. The two suspects, Okunnuga and Owolabi, were arrested while other culprits managed to escape and are now at large.
According to the residents, while the Police were still investigating the suspects, who were transferred to the Command’s Special Squad in Ikeja, the DPO, CSP Adebisi, received another distress call by a community leader that hoodlums suspected to be cult members came out in large numbers with cutlasses and attacked people placing banners for the commissioning of Abaranje /Ikotun new road.
During the attack, three victims sustained injuries and were rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.
However, the Police having received the report, moved to the scene with the Anti Crime patrol team and arrested two suspects identified as Ahmed Bada, 35 and Jamiu Muyideen, 27 and detained them at the station for interrogation.
While being interrogated, the suspects confessed to be members of Alora Confraternity terrorising Abaranje/ Okerube axis for sometime.
They were also transferred including other suspected cult members within Ikotun axis to the Command’s Special Squad for further investigation.
Recently, the Police team at Ikotun Division uncovered some members of an armed robbery gang operating in Ijegun and Governor’s Road, terrorizing the residents. Some were arrested while others managed to escape and since then the areas have become calm and peaceful.
The security success story in the area can attributed to the robust collaboration between the Police and members of public, who provide credible information to the Police and with prompt response and confidentiality of the Police in management of the information, results were achieved.
