Police operatives from IGP-IRT Lagos State Annex, have demonstrated their capacity to combat crime by crushing a four-man vehicles snatching syndicate, which had been terrorizing the residents of Lekki for a long time in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects were Innocent Enoch, 28, Innocent Gideon, 24, Gambo Promise, 30 and Moses Selzing, 34.
They were said to have specialized in snatching vehicles both on the high way and homes at Lekki thereby causing terror in the area.
However, their reign of terror ended on 7th January, 2022, after they were smashed when they invaded Salvation Road, Ifedo estate of Freedom Way, Lekki, during an operation.
While they were in the estate, having snatched a BMW Saloon car worth about N15m with registration number BDG 521 CC, belonging one Koje State and was escaping, they met their waterloo.
According to Police sources, the information got to IRT operatives, who tailed, tracked and eventually arrested the suspects and detained them for interrogation over their criminal activities.
After investigation and having been found culpable by the Police, they were subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, asked the Court to give a short adjournment date for hearing to enable the Police to prove they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Joseph, granted them bail in the sum of N1m each with two sureties in like sum, while the matter was adjourned till 28th February, 2022, for mention.
The defendants were remanded in correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
