It was a success story by the Police operatives at Olosan Division in Mushin, Lagos, led by SP Ayodele Arogbo, as they continued to make clear statements on protection of lives and property in the area.

P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that barely few days the DPO personally led operations and arrested a gang of armed robbers and car syndicate, Arogbo and his team made another huge success on 24th September, 2019.
This time around, the Police foiled a bank robbery operation, arrested one of the suspects identified as Mahmoud Mohammed and recovered cache of weapons in the process.
The incident happened at Olorunsogo area of Mushin, where SP Arogbo led a routine check with one Police Sergeant, Omoseye Akinjopo.
During the routine surveillance, the officers accosted a motorcycle operator with a passenger having a bag not knowing the content of the bag. The owner and the suspect, 24-year old Mohammed, resisted routine search on the bag while the motorcycle rider sensed the danger, drove off abandoned Mohammed. He was taken to the Police station with the bag.
To the shock of the Police officers at the station, the bag contained four locally made short guns and 45 live ammunition, with which the suspect claimed that they were going for a robbery operation to an undisclosed bank in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the suspect claimed that he hails from Offa in Kwara State and was a member of a three man armed robbery gang that specialised in robbing customers at various banks in Lagos and outside the state. He said that they have successfully robbed many victims based on the information on such persons dealing and transactions in the banks.

“Once a customer withdraws money from the bank, we will monitor and confirm it was a huge withdrawal. We will then trail such person to his house and rob him or her. We have successfully done that severally. Recently, I robbed a woman in Ijegun through that means with my gang” he said.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited the Olosan Police Division, where Mohammed was detained, the DPO was said to have gone out for routine surveillance in the area and could not get his comments.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the arrest and said that the Police have since commenced investigation into the matter in order to arrest other suspects now at large.
It was gathered that the suspect will be transferred to the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, at Lagos Command for further investigation.
