The police boss said on 14th April, 2018, the police received credible intelligence and information from members of the public that an armed robbery gang had planned to strike at Ijora Badia area of Lagos.

He said that when he got the information, police detectives and FSARS from Ladipo Annex in Mushin were dispatched to the area with clear order to foil the operations and arrest the suspects. CP Edgal said that the team went into action, disrupted the plans of the robbers and arrested the four suspects namely: Tajumola Yekini, 29, Olowokere Blessing, 20, Leke Oni, 27, and Yaya Garba, 17. The police also recovered locally made pistol cut to size and expended cartridges from the suspects and the exhibits were kept at the State Command at Ikeja, Lagos.

Similarly, CP Edgal said that one Raphael Oluwanishola who resided at 1, Adeniyi Castro Street, Alagbado area, believed to be the robbers  armourer was arrested along Ile-ewe Road Meiran area with bags containing pistols and other dangerous weapons. Edgal said that the Anti-Robbery team flagged down the suspect who was riding a motorcycle carrying one bag tied to his back. When the police interrogated him, he claimed to be a thrift collector and immediately offered the officers N5,000 bribe to let him continue. The police officers then asked him to come down and open the bag. He came down, immediately abandoned both the bag and motorcycle and ran to escape.

However, the officers pursued, apprehended and forced him to open the bag. Then it was discovered that Oluwanishola had three locally made cut to size pistols and 11 cartridges inside the bag. He was arrested, detained but later taken to FSARS office where he confessed.
CP Edgal said that the suspects were being interrogated and investigated in order to arrest their gang members, and will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
