Police Inspector Loses 3 Teeth As Angry Mob Attacks With Stones & Broken Bottles

A Police Inspector, Nwaubani Udochukwu, who is attached to Idimu Division, is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital after an angry mob used stones and bottles to knock off three of his teeth while performing his lawful duty in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 13th April, 2026, at Orelope-Egbeda area, where Inspector Udochukwu was duty.
Four of the suspects behind the dastardly act, Masol Nasiru, 32, Abdulsalam Kabiru, 28, Bashiru Abdullahi, 25 and Yaga Alhaji, 20, have been arrested and charged for their alleged conduct against the Inspector.
The cause of the disagreement that led the mob to attack Inspector Udochukwu was not disclosed by the Police as they reinforced and arrested the suspects while others escaped and now at large.
The suspects were consequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy, conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, assault, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Masol Nasiru, Abdulsalam Kabiru, Bashiru Abdullahi and Yaga Alhaji and others now at large on the 13th April, 2026, at about 1100hrs at Orelope-Egbeda, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire with others now at large to commit a felony and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 413(2) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Masol Nasiru, Abdulsalam Kabiru, Bashiru Abdullahi and Yaga Alhaji and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did assault one AP NO. 401788 INSPR NWAUBANI UDOCHUKWU by using stones, broken bottles and other dangerious weapons to inflict injury on him while performing his lawful duty and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 174(b) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeia 2015.”
COUNT III:”That you, Masol Nasiru, Abdulsalam Kabiru, Bashiru Abdullahi and Yaga Alhaji and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the above mentioned Magisterial District, did cause serious bodily harm to one AP NO. 401788 INSPR NWAUBANI UDOCHUKWU by using stones, broken bottles and other dangerious weapons to attack him and cause injuries to his mouth by removing three of his upper teeth and thereby committed an offence under Section 173 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT IV:”That you, Masol Nasiru,Abdulsalam Kabiru, Bashiru Abdullahi and Yaga Alhaji and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the above mentioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourselves in a disorderly manner by gathering yourselves in a riotous manner and thereby commited an offence contrary to Section 45(1) and punishable under Section 45 (2) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT V:”That you, Masol Nasiru,Abdulsalam Kabiru, Bashiru Abdullahi and Yaga Alhaji and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the above stated Magisterial District, did display stones, broken bottles and other dangerious weapons in public in other to cause panic and fear to members of the public and thereby commited an offence punishable under Section 51 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offences.
The Presiding Magistrate, Miss F.R.Ogunkoyede, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
