The police in Lagos and notorious kidnappers engaged in fierce gun battle which lasted for several hours, at the end one of the kidnappers was killed and two got arrested.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the kidnappers sneaked into Lagos to kidnap notable persons in Iba area of Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos unknown to them that the police had received intelligence on their planned activities in the state.
The police operatives swung into action based on the intelligence and located them in their hideout in Imota area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
However, when the armed kidnappers sighted the opeatives, they opened fire on the operatives and there was exchange of gun fire between them. But the police were able to repel them and one of them identified as Sunday a.k.a dreaded Dagboru was killed while two of the suspects Ebi Gabriel, 29 and Promise Ajele,19, of Orogbo in Ose-Odo in Ondo State were arrested.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, during the parade of suspects at the State Command. He said that the activities of the suspects started on 9th December, 2018, when the police received intelligence and the gang was traced to their hideout in Ikorodu where they opened fire on the operatives before the police replied.
The police boss said that during the exchange of fire, the operatives repelled the attack and recovered some weapons from the bandits namely cut-to-size double barrel pistols, expended cartridges and live ammunition.
The CP said that some of the suspects escaped and were at large but that the police were making every efforts to arrest them. He said the suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigations.
