CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

The police at Area M Command, Idimu, Lagos have recovered two out of the four children sold by their mother, Mrs Victoria Uwachukwu to buyers without the consent of her husband.

The couple had five children but the suspect sold four of the kids and remaining only one before her husband discovered that she was selling them one after the other.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the two children were recovered from undisclosed buyers through intensive efforts put in place by the Area Commander, ACP Austines Akika.

The woman identified as Victoria Uwachukwu was arrested by the police following a petition by her husband alleging that she sold four out of their five children.
It was gathered that the transactions were secretly carried out by a Lagos lawyer who prepared the agreement papers for the sale of those children. The police have since declared the lawyer wanted and was said to be on the run for his alleged involvement in the transaction.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the lawyer whose identity the police refused to disclose was encouraging the woman to sell those children because of percentage of the money he was making from the transaction.
She had already sold four out of their five children before her husband was informed by their neighbour who knew about the transaction.

P.M.EXPRESS had reported that her husband rented his family house in Alimosho area of Lagos and was doing some work outside of the state while the transactions were going on. And whenever her husband asked her about the children, she would tell him that she sent them to their relations. Unknown to him, she was selling those children one by one until their neighbour revealed it to her husband.

She was arrested, detained by the police, she confessed and revealed the whole thing about the transactions and those involved.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that she presented the transaction papers prepared by the lawyer which assisted the police in rescuing the two children.

It was gathered that the police was finding it extremely difficult to trace the remaining two because the buyers were said to have travelled out of the country with those children.

When our correspondent visited Area M Command, Idimu to speak with the Area Commander, Mr Akika concerning the matter, he was said to have gone to the State Command.

However, police sources at the Command confirmed the incident but declined to make further comments insisting that the matter was still under investigation and the suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
