The Imo State Police Command has reiterated that the ban on the sale, use, and distribution of pyrotechnics, commonly known as “knockouts” or “bangers,” remains fully enforced across the state. This measure, in place for some time, is essential for public safety, preventing injuries, and reducing the risks of fires and accidents caused by fireworks.
With the festive season approaching, the Command warned that any individual or group caught in possession of or using pyrotechnics—whether during public holidays, festivals, or private events—will be arrested and face severe legal consequences. The Command said it will continue to conduct regular patrols and operations to ensure strict compliance with this directive.
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, appealed to residents, event organizers, and business owners to cooperate with this directive and report any illegal activities involving pyrotechnics to the nearest Police station.
The Command appreciates the ongoing support of the public and assures that enhanced security measures will be implemented throughout the Yuletide period to safeguard lives and property.
The Command assures that the Police will maintain law and order, ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all during the festive season.
