Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim, Recover Arms & Ammunition

Police operatives following intelligence report have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered arms and ammunition.

According to a statement by SP Haruna Mohammed, PPRO Anambra State Police Command, on behalf of the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, on 25^th April, 2019, at about 10.30pm, the Police went into action following intelligence report from Owerri in Imo State that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers had abducted one Obinna Davidson with his red coloured Lexus Car model GS 300 with Registration No. EHM 32 EHRH and headed towards Onitsha in Anambra State.

Following the distress report, patrol teams attached to Operation Udoka were alerted who later traced the hoodlums to a secluded flat located inside a bush around Oba area in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State. The victim, Davidson, was rescued unhurt and his vehicle recovered while the hoodlums escaped through the rear fence into the bush.

Meanwhile, a search was conducted by the Police inside the building and the following exhibits were recovered: two AK47 riffles with ten rounds of live ammunition, one Beretta pistol with ten rounds of .9mm ammunition.

The scene was cordoned off by the Police and efforts are being intensified to apprehend fleeing suspects in order to bring them to Justice.

The Police also on the same day at about 2pm, following intelligence report arrested a suspect, Collins Ike, at Limca Road Nkpor in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect is a receiver of stolen vehicles and two Honda CRV vehicles with REG numbers AL 291 GRA black in colour and PR 226 AAA were recovered from the suspect including the one earlier reported stolen.

The Police Spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, said that the case is under investigation and effort is motion to apprehend fleeing accomplices in order to bring them to Justice.
