Police operatives at Olosun Division led by their Divisional Police Officer, SP Ayodele Arogbo, have smashed a robbery gang terrorising the residents of Mushin, Ikotun and Igando areas of Lagos during an operation.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Police also arrested two of the suspects of the five-gang robbery syndicate and recovered weapons during the operation at Olorunsogo Bus Stop in Mushin while they were on their way with motorcycles for operation at night.
The suspects were Omisogun Matthew, 25 and his female gang member, Yetunde Lawson, 28.
It was gathered that the suspects were traffic robbers before they upgraded, bought weapons, became full time armed robbers and went to Mushin for an operation.
However, the security strategy mounted by the Police in the area did not allow them to penetrate and they were eventually smashed.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana in Lagos. He said that on 22nd August, 2019, at about 0730hrs, the Anti Crime patrol team from Mushin Police Station led by Inspector Atipi Agasa while on patrol duty along Olorunsogo Bus Stop, Mushin, intercepted one Omisogun Matthew, (M), 25 and Yetunde Lawson, (F), 28, on a motorcycle.
DSP Elkana stated that when the gang sighted the Police team, the hoodlums attempted to escape but were given a hot chase. Two of the suspects were arrested while three of them escaped and were still at large.
Elkana said that the team also recovered one locally made double barrel pistol with two live cartridges from them and the suspects belonged to a five-man armed robbery syndicate operating in Mushin, Ikotun and Igando areas of Lagos State. He said that the suspects had been transferred to FSARS for discreet investigation and will be charged to Court.
