Police Uncovers Massive Recruitment of Youths As Two New Cults Emerge In Lagos

As the Nigerian Police are battling to curb the activities of cults group and other forms of criminality in Lagos State, another set of cult groups have also emerged recently which were said to be more deadly than the previous ones in the State.

The two groups were “I Need Money” and “Face Lagos”, according to reliable sources.

P.M.EXPRESS also gathered from the police source that the membership of the group cut across the 57 local councils in the state and were reportedly recruiting young people between the ages of 10 and 19 as members.

This was discovered during the supremacy battle between the two groups over their recruitment drive of membership in Itire area of Lagos.

Following the fracas many residents were said to have suffered various degree of injuries and properties including vehicles were destroyed.

The incident happened and spread to streets of Itire such as Itelorun, Oshindero, Durojaiye, Smith and others, and even spread to Mushin area of Lagos.

P.M..EXPRESS reports that 11 suspects of both camp have been arrested and charged before a Lagos Magistrates court for allegedly forming an illegal organization, causing violence with dangerous weapons.

The suspects were Oluwasun, Olotu, 19, Solomon Igbekoyi,19, Toheeb Oguntade,19, Jamiu Oguntade, 18,  Ajibola Rafiu 21 and Azeez Obatola, 24. Others included Rilwan Raheem, 19, Raphael Popoola,20, Innocent Okere,21, Gafar Fatai, 24 and Jelili Yunusa, 30 who is said to be one of the leaders of the groups.

It was learnt that the recruitment did not end with school drop outs, it concluded artisans, apprentices and other set of low income earners who joined the groups in order to get money through violence and criminal activities.

The suspects were arraigned for the alleged charges under the Criminal Code.

They pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.O.Ogbe granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till 30 June 2017.
