How Police Unmasked Fake Voters, National ID Cards Syndicates In Lagos

The police in Lagos Command have arrested four people including a woman who specialized in printing fake National Identity cards and voters registration cards in Lagos.

The suspects were arrested and paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni on Tuesday at the police command in Ikeja, Lagos.

One of the suspects was 60-year-old Gbenga Odugbolu, the chairman of Chairman’s Glory International, a company which was used to perpetrate the criminal act. Others are Abimbola Onalaga, who is the company’s supervisor, Information Technology  Consultant, Lasis Toheeb and a female, Mrs Favour Nwannekezi.

They were arrested at Shagamu road in ikorodu area of Lagos where they are running a business and printing centre called Chairman’s Glory International.

When the suspects were paraded, they were trading blames among themselves. Onalaga told journalists that he was not aware that the staff were printing such cards whereas he was collecting the money realized from the business.

Also Toheeb, who was the IT staff of the company, said he was doing  his work as directed by the management unknowingly to him that it was illegal business.

The supervisor,Odugbolu admitted that they were printing the cards and claimed that the management knew about it because the money realized was accounted for.

The suspects were not the only those paraded, 25 other suspects were among suspected criminals paraded by Owoseni.

Those arrested include suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, human traffickers, car snatchers, cults gang among others.

While parading them, CP Owoseni said the police will leave nothing to chance to ensure that criminal elements are flush out of the state

He said it was the result of unrelenting action of the police that led to the arrest of the suspects within and outside the state .
