It was a sad experience for a female Police Inspector, Charity Iruobe, attached to Ejigbo Police Division of the Lagos Command, when she attempted to arrest a man and she was given serious beating and injured in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Jakande Estate junction in Ejigbo, where the police woman, Charity, went to perform her official duty.
The suspect, Shola Jegede, has been arrested.
It was gathered that the 49-year old Jegede was said to have committed an undisclosed offence, was apprehended and being taken to the Police Station. He reportedly resisted, grabbed the police woman, Charity and assaulted her publicly before her colleagues came to her rescue. Jegede was then arrested and detained at the Police Station.
After interrogation, he was found culpable and later charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for resisting arrest and assault on a Police officer while on lawful duty.
He denied and pleaded not guilty before the Court.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.S. Okubule, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was thereafter remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 2nd September, 2019.
