One of Nigeria’s foremost gospel music hit-maker Tim Godfrey has revealed that his grass to grace story was the secret inspiration behind his latest hit song Nara Ekele Mo.

Talented singer said the song, which features award-winning gospel sensation Travis Greene and has suddenly turned a national anthem and regular as a praise worship song in many churches across the country, speaks about him, him story and the journey he has been through and how far God has brought him over the years.

Godfrey words: “It is my song of gratitude to God. I am simply saying, for all you have done for me, please accept my thanks. I wrote Nara Ekele Mo (Receive My Praise) from the place of pain. I once lived in a room with nine people; my parents and seven siblings. We went to primary school all our lives without even a sandal. At some point, after my primary school, I became a house help for three years. We were so poor that my dad was bus driver and I was a bus conductor.

“My first night in Lagos was under Oshodi Bridge. Life was never worth-living, but looks at the testimony of that same boy today. God has changed my story for good. The Lord has done so much for me and I cannot tell it all.

Godfrey, who has not only carved a niche for himself barely few years he came into limelight in the gospel circuit, has become a force to reckon with, as well set a distinct standard in the industry with his craft and style of music.

“I want to encourage and challenge every young person regardless of what they are going through at the moment, that we are serving a God that specialises in nothing that looks impossible. We should not shift focus, irrespective of the condemnation of human,” he said.

‘Nara’ which means ‘Accept’ in the Nigerian Igbo dialect is a song that ascribes all glory to God for all His excellent works towards His own.

The song was first launched at Godfrey’s Live Concert tagged ‘Fearless Victory 2018 held in five different cities across the country. He also wowed the crowd with the classical performance of the song at the December globally-recognised concert, The Experience, in Lagos.
