A housewife, Mrs. Ijeoma, who recently put to bed, has told her husband, Ebuka, that she was actually pregnant for her lover and not her husband, who had all along accused her of barrenness after three years of marriage.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Agboji town in Orumba Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that Ebuka got married to Ijeoma some years ago and she was unable to conceive. The husband then told his family members that his wife, Ijeoma, cannot conceive because she had no womb having slept with her for several years without any sign of pregnancy.

The embittered woman, Mrs. Ijeoma, denied the allegation and tried to convince both her husband and members of his family that she had a womb and the cause of her not getting pregnant might be from her husband but they refused to listen to her.

According to her, “The family mocked and challenged me to get pregnant if I claimed that I actually had a womb”.

She said she took the challenge and slept with a Togolese labourer, who came to work in their village and she became pregnant immediately. She then packed her property and relocated to her village in Umuchu town in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

When she eventually put to bed, the husband came to claim responsibility for the baby. She then shocked him and told him that the pregnancy and the baby belonged to her lover.
The bone of contention now is that Ebuka wants to take custody of the baby and claimed that since he got married to Ijeoma by paying her dowry that the baby belonged to him despite the fact that he was not responsible for the pregnancy in line with the tradition and culture in Igbo land.
However, Ijeoma insisted that she was no longer interested in the marriage and that was why she packed her belongings and left when her lover impregnated her.
She said that her lover and father of her baby had already taken responsibility for the baby and was willing to get married to her.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the man, Ebuka, is considering taking legal action over the custody of the baby; claiming that whoever the woman is married to, owns any baby from her even outside marriage once a bride price was paid.
