According to the letter signed by the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, the Presidency selected and approved the conferment of the National Honour on the federal lawmaker based on her outstanding performance on the floor of the senate and noteworthy contributions to the growth and National development.

Whilst it will be recalled that the A-grade lawmaker has offered the best ever representation to the zone and impacted greatly on the lives of her constituents with impeccable representation, she has, however, been ranked among the top 3 senators in terms of quality bills and motions sponsored in the 9th National Assembly.

Also, Ekwunife has attracted tangible infrastructural projects across various communities, facilitated pensionable jobs for the teeming youth and numerous skill acquisition programmes and trainings.

In her acknowledgement letter, Ekwunife appreciated God Almighty for the recognition and specially thanked President Buhari (GCFR) for finding her worthy of the National Honour Award. She also poured encomium to her beloved husband, Chief Larry Ekwunife and amazing children for their support and encouragement over the years.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation further thanked the good people of Anambra Central Senatorial for their support and cooperation, stating that the National Honour will spur her to continue to do more for the upliftment of the downtrodden and the betterment of humanity, even after leaving office.
