The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, has lauded the official launch of the Project “Flag Up Lagos” campaign by the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) Alumni, saying it will strengthen civic unity and promote the pride of the state’s identity.
The campaign, which was supported by the Office of Political, Legislative & Civic Engagement and the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, was unveiled recently at the Conference Room of the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Secretariat, Alausa lkeja.
Appreciating the initiative further, Afolabi said the campaign is in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of intensified focus on Social Inclusion and part of a broader effort by the Lagos State Government to engage its citizenry.
He added that the initiative will inspire Lagosians to embrace their shared heritage and display the State’s colours with honour while portraying the State’s spirit of progress and togetherness.
Afolabi promised to promote the initiative by presenting it to the Members of the National Assembly representing Lagos State during the Office-scheduled visit to the Green and Red Chambers of the National Assembly during their plenary sessions.
Speaking on the importance of the initiative, one of the campaign Coordinator and LJLA Alumni, Funmi Omoyele noted that the burning desire for the project was ignited during the teams’ International Policy trip in India, where the India National flag was displayed at every corner they turned.
She added that the project, which will be implemented in phases, will significantly contribute to bridging the gap between the government and its citizenry while building a better Nigeria. She reiterated that we need to embrace the Nigeria flag and the Lagos State flag as a symbol of patriotism, love and unity.
The highlight of the day was the symbolic hoisting of the Nigeria and the Lagos State flags.
Also present at the event were the Permanent Secretary, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olumide Sogunle.
