<em><strong>Umo Eno, Akwa Ibom State Governor-elect </strong></em>

The emergence of Mr. Umo Eno as the Governor-Elect of Akwa Ibom State has been described as a turning point in the narrative of persons living with Albinism.
Founder of the Proudly Albino Network, PAN, Miss Esther Abbey made the declaration while reacting to the victory of Mr. Umo Eno in the March 18 gubernatorial elections in Akwa Ibom State, south-south Nigeria
Mr. Eno who was the standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the elections was declared winner at the polls after winning in twenty nine of the thirty one local government areas in the oil-rich State.
Miss Abbey declared “Now, we, persons living with Albinism are beginning to take our political destiny in our hands.
“With the victory of Mr. Eno who is one of the eminent personalities in our community, the era of persons living with Albinism playing the second fiddle is over.
“We now have one of our own as a Governor-Elect and in the next few years, we will have one of our own in the highest office of the land”.
Miss Abbey admonished persons living with Albinism to draw inspiration from the achievements of the Governor-Elect.

“With the victory of Mr. Eno, it is now clear to all that the condition of Albinism is no barrier to achieving our dreams. All we need is to work very hard and remain focused and like Mr. Eno we will achieve our respective lofty dreams”.
Speaking directly to the governor-elect, Miss Abbey appealed to him to incorporate in his programme, policies that would address the challenges of persons living with Albinism.
In her words “I congratulate His Excellency, the Executive Governor-Elect of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Eno. It’s is my fervent wish that his tenure would take Akwa Ibom State to a new level.
“I wish to seize this opportunity to appeal to him to use his exalted office to address the challenges confronting persons living with Albinism.
“He would be writing his name in letters of gold if he does because no government before now has attended to the needs of persons living with Albinism, except President Goodluck Jonathan”, Miss Abbey added.
