A renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Muyideen Salman on Monday, 9 March, 2026, offered a special prayer for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that there is need to back the President to complete his reform programmes to restore the glory of the country.

Sheikh Salman, who is also the Chief Imam of Offa in Kwara also commended the former Chairman of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Honourable Rasaq Olusola Ajala for his commitment to serving the people even after leaving office.

Sheikh Salman spoke on Monday, 9 March, 2026 during the Ramadan Lecture organised by Abdur Rasaq/Muheebah (ARM) Foundation in Mushin.

According to him, the Tinubu administration deserves a pat on the back for taking the bull by the horn in tackling the various challenges facing the country. “The administration has been bold in tackling the challenges, the gains of these bold steps have started to manifest but we all must support his re-election for him to consolidate on the gains that have started to manifest,” he said.

The popular cleric also advised Nigerians to continue to offer prayers for their leaders, noting that it is ungodly to curse leaders in the society. “Islam enjoins us to obey our leaders and pray for them, hence it is ungodly for you to curse your leaders, always ensure that you pray for them all the time,” he said.

On Ajala, the popular cleric described him as a man worthy of emulation by others. “He has shown that his commitment to selfless service to the people is unparalleled,” he said.

Sheikh Salman noted that not many politicians will continue to serve and empower the people as Ajala is doing after leaving office.

“You are not rich and you are not a Muslim if your wealth does not impact positively on others particularly the needy. Ajala has shown that serving the people goes beyond office. Not many politicians do this and if we have many of his type in Nigerian politics, the country will develop faster,” he said.

He called on politicians to make empowerment of the people paramount in their mind. “Many of you have stories to tell. Most of you started humbly and the only way you can be grateful to God is by ensuring that you empower these children here and take many of them out of the streets,” he said.

At the Ramadan Lecture, food packs were distributed to over 5,000 residents of the area, courtesy of the ARM Foundation. The food packs include staple foods like rice, garri, beans and noodles.

It should be noted that ARM Foundation has been hosting thousands of residents of the area to daily Iftar, breaking of fast and it will continue till the end of Ramadan.
