Barely few days after Reno Superstores company sent their security guard, Emmanuel Udoh, to prison for allegedly stealing two loaves of bread out of hunger, the company has again sent another staff to prison for stealing Kiwi shoe polish worth N1, 200 each in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 18-year old Reno Superstores staff, Tobiloba Olule, was arrested and charged for stealing the shoe polish after he was caught on CCTV stealing the polish.

The company’s security guard immediately accosted and handed him over to the management team. They calculated all the Kiwi shoe polish they claimed was missing in the store in the  past and the total amount was put at N263,800.

Thus, the management handed Olule over to the Police at Ejigbo Division for prosecution to serve as deterrent to other staff who might want to steal in the future.

Police sources stated that efforts made by the Police to resolve the matter out of Court settlement proved abortive because the management insisted that they wanted justice and Olule should be prosecuted.

He was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged stealing.

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 8th May, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
