Residents Hail Ambode For Honouring DPO With Gallantry Award

Residents of Victoria Island and its environs in Lagos, Nigeria have praised the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, for honouring the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in-charge of Bar Beach Division, CSP Olusegun Ajamolaya with excellence and gallantry Award for his passionate efforts at providing security for residents of Victoria Island and Lagosians as a whole.

Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent about the honour said with the award, it shows that Governor Ambode appreciates the good job the Police and other security agencies are doing in Lagos State to ensure that residents sleep with their two eyes closed everyday.

They therefore appealed to all the security agencies operatives serving in Lagos State to see the award bestowed on CSP Ajamolaya as a challenge and they should redouble their efforts at assisting the Lagos State Government to sustain the present crime free Lagos residents currently enjoying.

The DPO CSP Ajamolaya and nine other ranks and files were honoured recently by the Lagos State government when the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF held its 11th Town Hall Meeting with Governor Ambode, which also coincided with the celebration of the Trust Fund’s 10th anniversary since creation held at the new Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja, Lagos.
The ceremony attracted many important personalities from all works of life including top government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers led by the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Rilwan Akiolu; Lagos State Commissioner of Lagos, Mr Edgar Imohimi and host of others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ambode thanked the management of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and individuals who have continued to partner with the Fund through their support in cash and kind to build the most effective security infrastructure in Lagos and urged others who have not contributed towards the laudable Trust Fund to do so.

In his speech, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Mr Oye Hassan Odukale said that the CSP Ajamolaya was honoured with excellence Award for his exemplary discharged of duties and gallantry.

In a chat with PMEXPRESS, Mr Chuks Maha, Access Bank Plc’s Chief Security Officer said; “I am not surprised with honour done to CSP Ajamolaya by Governor Akinwumi Ambode because since he assumed duty at the Bar Beach Division, residents of Victoria Island, Lagos had been sleeping with their two eyes closed everyday. I want to thank the Governor and CP Edgar Imohimi for the Award.

Alhaji Abdullateef Muse, the Secretary of the Victoria Island and Ikoyi Residents Association, VIIRA, said the DPO is a discipline and hardworking officer worth emulating for dislodging criminal elements from Victoria Island for peace to reign.
