Some dare-devil armed robbers went on rampage, broke into two churches on the same day in Lagos and carted away properties after failing to realize any money inside before they escaped.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the African Apostolic and Seventh Day Adventist churches located at Shogbanu Street in Bariga Lagos.

They broke into the churches early in the morning, searched every nook and corner including the offering boxes to steal money to no avail. It was gathered that the robbers first broke into the African Apostolic Church and carted away Elepaq generator and vehicle engine worth about N150,000 and escaped.

The robbers were not satisfied with their loot; they went ahead, broke into Seventh Days Adventist Church and stole their digital projector and music keyboard worth about N300,000 and went away.
In the morning when the members arrived at the church premises, they discovered that the churches were burgled and the items carted away. It was reported to the operatives of the FSARS who commenced investigation and eventually arrested one of the suspects.
The suspect, a 24-year old Monday Peter, has been charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for his alleged involvement in the incident. The police did not state if any of the stolen items were recovered from him but found him culpable before he was charged to court.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emuerhi did not oppose his bail but sought for adjournment for trial.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat granted Peter bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 25th October, 2018.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the invasion of churches by robbers may have been as a result of the economic situation in the country and they no longer regarded churches and mosques as sacred places of worship. It was confirmed that several churches and mosques had been burgled and properties carted away after the robbers went there in search of money.
