Angry robbers who burgled a Four Square Gospel Church to steal their offering money were disappointed; they ended up carting away their musical equipment and escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the church branch located at Akesan area, in the outskirts of Lagos.
It was gathered that the robbers went into the church and broke the keys to the entrance of the church auditorium. They reportedly scattered the whole church looking for money which they did not find. When they did not find any money in the offering box as they had expected, they stole the musical equipment worth over N650,000 and escaped.
When the church management and worshippers went to the church in the morning, they discovered that the keys to the church auditorium were broken and the church was open. They went inside and discovered that the robbers had stolen the musical equipment set inside the church and carted it away.
The matter was reported to the police at Igando Division who went into action, succeeded and arrested one of the suspects, Mr. Boniface Sunday, 32 and detained at the police station. The police did not state if they recovered the stolen items, namely three nox mixers, keyboards and others.
The suspect was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for conspiracy, stealing and breaking into the place of worship.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simom did not oppose the bail application by his counsel.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J Layeni granted Sunday bail in the sum of N700,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 13 June, 2018.
