Robbers invaded a Lagos parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, and carted away musical equipment worth over N400, 000 and escaped.

One of the suspects, a 30-year old, Edet William, has been arrested after he and other suspects reportedly desecrated the house of God by burgling the church and bolting away with the equipment.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the RCCG premises, Glory Cloud Parish, located in Ilasamaja area of Lagos, at night after a church service.

According to the residents, it may not be only William that went for the operation because of the manner the incident happened. It was gathered that the robbers went into the church, broke the keys and gained entrance into the auditorium. They reportedly went to the offering box but did not find any money. It was then that the equipment which included the Piano, amplifier and other accessories were carted away before they escaped.

In the morning, when some of the members went to the church for service, it was discovered that the church was burgled and those items were missing.

The matter was reported to the police who commenced investigation and eventually arrested one of the suspects.
Mr. William was detained at the Ilasamaja police station for investigation. After investigation, the police found him culpable and charged him before the Isolo Magistrates Court for stealing.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Rita Momah, asked the Court for a date for hearing to enable the police to prove the case.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Adegite, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 3rd June, 2019.
